Shamrocks, a common symbol of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday celebrated annually on March 17, around the world. It is a day to celebrate Irish culture, music, and all things green.

St. Patrick was born in the late 4th century and was kidnapped by Irish raiders when he was just 16 years old. After about six years of being captured, he escaped and returned to his family as a Christian missionary. He is credited for being the one who spread Christianity across the island and is known as the “Apostle of Ireland”.

Today, the holiday is celebrated worldwide through parades, traditional Irish music and dances, and wearing the color green. Parents also like to tell their children about the legendary leprechaun who comes to play tricks on families.

Whether you’re Irish or not, St. Patrick’s day is a fun way to celebrate and learn about Irish culture.
